Hello, this is Janet Reasoner, owner and operator of Crazy Horse Consulting.

I started Crazy Horse Consulting because I saw a need for dynamic, ethical, and effective fundraising strategies and help to non-profits who are working for social change.

As National Field Coordinator for ACORN for six years, I helped many new organizers and office directors develop plans to keep their offices self-sufficient -- and to keep their staff paid! During that time, the offices I worked with raised more than $2 million in grant funding; most of those grants were small and from local foundations or funders with a focus on community organizing.

I also worked with ACORN organizers on "internal fundraising" -- funding from events, canvassing, membership, and other activities that not only raised money but furthered the organization's goals and mission.

My fundraising experience over the past 20+ years includes:

  • Two years as a Field Manager for a canvass in Denver that raised 100% of the funding for the organization.
  • Four years in public television, learning about marketing and building membership.
  • Three years working in workplace fundraising, including running two very successful campaign seasons for Community Shares of Louisiana and one year as Executive Director of the Union Community Fund of Greater New Orleans.
  • The past three years, working in grant management and reporting for a national non-profit.
